Soapstars furious about Martine? - Jan 5 2007
ITV show Soapstar Superstar hasn’t started yet - but it seems the bitching might have.
Some of the contestants are apparently angry that former EastEnders star Martine McCutcheon has been lined up as a judge.
A source told The Sun: "Martine’s ears must be burning because they’ve been really having a go at her.
"They reckon she shouldn’t be a judge because she’s just like them - a soap star."
The 30-year-old’s Albert Square character, Tiffany, was killed off in 1998 and she has revealed that she is a big fan of the singing show.
"There’s something about this show that catches the electricity in the air," she said.
Martine has also said she plans to encourage the contestants.
"It’s going to be hard because my heart’s going to be with the performers. They need encouragement so I’m going to be the one cheering them on," she said.
Soapstar Superstar, which will see soap stars such as Gemma Atkinson and Corrie’s Jane Danson vying for the title, kicks off at 8.30pm tonight on ITV.
Martine mugged - Oct 31 2006
Martine McCutcheon feared for her life after a hoodie yob leapt into her car and robbed her.
The thug grabbed the former EastEnders actress as she parked up to enter a shop and he ran off with her handbag, according to the Daily Mirror.
A source close to the 30-year-old star reveals she was "driving down the King’s Road when she stopped at a chemist and noticed the youth - when she returned to her car he was still hanging around and jumped in".
The source added: "He grabbed her leg and for a moment she had no idea what was going on. His face was covered the whole time and grabbed her bag and jumped out. Two blokes gave chase but he got away."
The bag contained a few personal items, Martine’s make-up and a TV script.
The star’s agent reported the theft to police and the Met confirmed no arrests have been made but their inquiries continued.
The Other Woman - September 2006
Martine McCutcheon is probably better known for her slew of celebrity friends than her TV, film and stage work. But it looks like one of those influential chums might be saying a final goodbye to the ex-Ender. According to tabloid reports chef Marco Pierre White is in hot water with his missus over his friendship with poor Mart. Apparently Mati, Marco’s fiery Spanish other half, isn’t terribly impressed with the amount of time her man’s spending with the cockernee actress and in a series of very public rows has strongly suggested he stop seeing her. Marco, of course, of course claims there’s nothing to be jealous of but the jury’s still out and it looks like Martine could be one famous friend down very soon.
Always the bridesmaid - October 04
Martine McCutcheon has no plans to walk up the aisle. Details of Martine’s lovelife are splashed across the tabloids daily and rumours abound as to whether she has any plans to nab herself a husband any time soon but now Martine has set the record straight. Leaving a recent wedding in Cardiff, Martine told waiting press "The wedding was lovely, absolutely beautiful - but I don’t think I’ll be walking up the aisle any time soon."
