Matt Willis
- Profession: Musician
- Place/Date of Birth: Tooting, London , 08 May 2020
Speaking to The Daily Star, the 23-year-old I’m A Celebrity winner said: "Preston’s got about £3million in the bank but no one takes him seriously as a musician now. I don’t want to be in the celebrity world. My day job is as a musician and after that I go home to my girlfriend, see my friends and go to the local pub.
"A lot of people ask me why I wanted to go on I’m A Celebrity when I was doing all right, but that’s precisely why I did it.
"I thought a prime-time TV show would boost my career. ITV approached me four times and in the end I didn’t think enough people were hearing my record.
"It’s not for the A-list radio. They prefer to play Snow Patrol and The Feeling. there’s no outlet for pop, so I did I’m A Celebrity."
The former Busted crooner insists he won’t be cashing in on his new found fame.
"It’s been said I’ll earn £5million, but there won’t be an autobiography or an ’at home’ shoot with my girlfriend. I don’t want to be one of those people."
Matt admits to ’battling booze’ - Dec 6 2006
He may have emerged victorious from the Australian jungle, but I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here winner Matt Willis is apparently still fighting his battle with booze.
The 23-year-old, who has checked himself into The Priory twice, reportedly celebrated his win with a lock-in at a local pub.
He told The Daily Mirror: "I still go out and get hammered from time to time. It’s hard to stay clean and sober when you’re 23 and really enjoying life.
"I don’t feel I drink more than any of my mates but then everyone tells me that’s the sign of an addict. I just feel too young to be labelled."
The former Busted crooner credits his MTV presenter girlfriend Emma Griffiths for keeping him sane.
"If it wasn’t for her, I don’t know what I’d do. She really keeps me in check. I will try to watch things over Christmas because I could literally be out partying every night.
"But Emma is very good at making me get a grip."
