Meg Mathews
- Profession: Socialite
- Place/Date of Birth: Guernsey, 14 March 2020
Meg has a close knit circle of friends which includes the likes of Kate Moss, Sadie Frost and Stella McCartney to mention but a few, She has recently moved to Camden with her young daughter Anais.
It was certainly fashion that lured her to "run away" from a foundation course at art school to work as a sales assistant at Joseph, before a spell as a receptionist at the trendy Lambton Place Health Club in Notting Hill. she then started up a DJ booking agency, Flavour, but it was a flop.
In 1994, she met Gallagher - when Oasis were virtually unknown - and, through his contacts, got a job at Creation, the group’s record label. "I had really long, blonde hair and I knew everyone there was saying that I only got the job because of Noel. When she was promoted to the artist liaison department - responsible for album launches and special events - she took care to distance herself from Noel, always staying in a separate hotel when they were working at concerts together.
For the launch of Oasis’s album (What’s the Story Morning Glory?) in 1995, she held a Sunday brunch in a Knightsbridge townhouse, complete with roaring fires, kedgeree, Bloody Marys and a string quartet playing songs from the album
.
At Knebworth in 1996, she organised an after-show party which featured magicians, caricature artists and Page Three girls working behind the bar. She left Creation in 1998 and launched a party consultant company, 2 Active, with her business partner and old friend, Francesca Cutler. Cutler and Mathews worked together at Joseph years ago, and have now pooled their expertise - and their formidable address books.
In their north London offices, they have a guest list stored on their computer database for which companies such as Jigsaw, Dior and Calvin Klein pay anything from £2,000 to £30,00. Organising parties may not be chipping away at the cruellest seam on the coalface of life, but it is big business these days and Mathews feels she has found her vocation in life.
She was an only child who grew up in Guernsey, her father a builder and carpenter. The family moved to South Africa when she was young, and her father helped build the new homelands in Transkei, near Durban.
She briefly attended boarding school in Oxford, before returning to Africa to travel through Namibia, Angola and Botswana. Following her bolt from art school, she lived in a squat in Brixton and concentrated her energies on losing her strong South African accent.

It must seem like deja-vu for Meg Matthews this week as she finds herself and her 22-month-old daughter on their own again. Meg has reportedly split from her five-month relationship with actor Jason Milligan due to the strain she suffered during her split from former hubby Noel Gallagher.
It is commonly known that Meg took left with more £3 million and a £1.2 million country home, she is rumoured to have been traumatised by the divorce and this is now been blamed for her lack of enthusiasm for another long-term relationship.
