Charges dropped against Nicole snapper - June 28 2007 Australian prosecutors have dropped charges against a celebrity photographer accused of planting a listening device outside Nicole Kidman's mansion.
Jamie Fawcett was charged in January 2005 with possessing and using a listening device after he was allegedly spotted planting the bug near a sidewalk outside the actress' lavish Sydney home.
But the New South Wales state prosecutor's office have withdrawn all charges against the 46-year-old in Sydney's Local Court. The reasons for the decision were not immediately clear.
"I'm naturally happy," the photographer told Australian Broadcasting Corporation outside the court. "I didn't think that ... there was any reason to bring the charges in the first place."
Not long after he was charged, a Sydney court ordered him to provide a DNA sample to compare with samples allegedly found on the listening device.
But the photographer appealed to the New South Wales state Supreme Court, which ruled that he could not be forced to provide police with a DNA sample since there was no evidence he had broken any law.
In 2005, Nicole reached an out-of-court settlement with Fawcett and fellow Sydney-based photographer Ben McDonald after she was granted a temporary restraining order against the pair for allegedly stalking her and making her feel like a prisoner in her own home.
Nicole’s ’cake’ diet - June 27 2007 Nicole Kidman has revealed her secret to looking stunning at 40 - and it’s a piece of cake.
The slender actress, who celebrated the big 4-0 last week, told Closer: "I’ve always had this long, lean body type and I haven’t changed since I was 15. I eat healthily, but I also love pies and chocolate.
"I can’t have a piece of cake every single night - but I can have a piece of cake three or four nights a week!" she added.
And Nic, who married country singer Keith Urban last year, likes to keep fit with the occasional swim.
"I put my swimming cap on and look awful, but I’m like, ’Who cares?’ And I like to be part of the real world - that’s why I go to a public gym."
The Moulin Rouge star admitted she’s not 100% happy with her shape, but insisted she wouldn’t change a thing.
"I have a boy’s body. I would love to have boobs and a butt like Jennifer Lopez, but I’m not having surgery, so there it is."
Kidman fronts computer games adverts - June 25 2007 Nicole Kidman is fronting a publicity campaign for the latest Nintendo computer game.
The 40-year-old star appears with a handheld console trying out the latest "brain training" techniques.
The actress said: "I’ve quickly found that training my brain is a great way to keep my mind feeling young."
She added: "I love the concept that Nintendo is reaching out to new audiences with their self improvement products like Brain Training."
Nicole was picked to appear in the commercials because of her "universal appeal", Nintendo said.
The Japanese firm wants to extend the appeal of computer games beyond its traditional young, male audience to reach more women and older people.
Its latest game, called More Brain Training From Dr Kawashima: How Old Is Your Brain?, claims to help the user’s brain stay active through a series of "exercises".
The game’s "brain age check" measures the speed and accuracy with which users complete maths, cognitive and language-based tasks.... read more

Australian-American actress Nicole Mary Kidman was born on June 20 1967 in Hawaii. Raised Down Under she studied at Sydney’s Australian Theatre for Young People and then at the Phillip Street Theatre before making her first on screen appearance in the music video for Pat Wilson’s Bop Girl. By the end of 1983 she had secured roles including a supporting part in tv’s Five Mile Creek and big screen outings BMX Bandits and Bush Christmas.
Throughout the 80s Nicole picked up several parts in features as wide ranging as the soap A Country Pactrice and drama Bangkok Hilton. However her breakthrough role came in 1989’s Dead Calm which she followed up with Days of Thunder and Far and Away. The two films also starred Tom Cruise who she fell in love with during filming. The pair were married in 1990 and the relationship undoubtedly helped give Nicole and extra push in to the limelight.
However 1995’s To Die For made critics sit up and take note of Nicole’s talent. Her tongue in cheek performance proved that far from being a trophy wife she was equal if not superior in acting talent to her husband. The pair appeared on film once more, in the controversial Eyes Wide Shut, before divorcing after ten years together. It was revealed that Nicole was pregnant at the time of their split. She later miscarried. However, the couple do have two adopted children, Connor and Isabella, and remain on good terms with one another.
Following her divorce Nicole appeared to approach her work with a new enthusiasm turning out tremendous performances in The Hours (for which she won the Best Actress Oscar), Moulin Rouge and The Others which brought about rumours of professional jealousy being behind her divorce. Further films, including Dogville, The Human Stain and Cold Mountain have been equally successful while a mistake or two was made in the comedy stakes with Bewitched and The Stepford Wives. Nicole is currently working on Fur, The Visiting and The Lady From Shanghai.
In addition to her movie success she has also managed to hit the UK’s top chart spot too, at Christmas no less. Following her vocals on Moulin Rouge she duetted with Robbie Williams on the, frankly not very good, Somethin’ Stupid. And as if that wasn’t enough to keep her busy she also works tirelessly for charity which, in part, earned her Australian’s highest civilian honour, Companion of The Order of Australia.
Post Tom Nicole has been linked with Lenny Kravitz, Jude Law and Adrien Brody but in 2006 she married Aussie country star Keith Urban with whom she is rumoured to be expecting a baby. updated December 2006
