Director Phillip Noyce, who gave the star her big break in 1989’s Dead Calm, also had a birthday message.
"Nicole, 20 years ago today we celebrated your 20th birthday on Hayman Island while shooting Dead Calm," he said.
"That night Lucky Starr sang his hit song ’I’ve been everywhere’. Happy birthday again and congratulations on making the words of the song come true."

Nicole shows off baby bump? - May 18 2007
Nicole Kidman has been spotted filming on location in Australia, showing the slightest hint of what might be a baby bump.
The 39-year-old star, wearing a figure-hugging pencil skirt, was taking time out of shooting her new film Australia with co-star Hugh Jackman on the Queensland coast, the Daily Express reports.
"Nicole has been wandering around saying hello to all the shopkeepers. She looks incredible for a woman approaching 40 but there is definitely a little tummy so you never know," said local ski instructor Jamieson Innes.
The star married country singer Keith Urban last year and has supported him through rehab for alcohol addiction.
Australia is the latest film from director Baz Luhrmann and is said to be costing a whopping £50 million.
Nicole plays an English aristocrat who inherits a ranch, but has to join forces with cattle driver Hugh when cattle barons plot to take her land.
The pair drive thousands of cattle for hundreds of miles across the land, only to face the bombing of Darwin by the Japanese.
Nicole’s Aussie honour - April 17 2007
Nicole Kidman has received yet another award - the Order Of Australia Medal.
The actress received the award from Governor General Michael Jeffery at a special ceremony at the end of last week in Canberra.
The star is currently in her home country getting ready to shoot director Baz Luhrmann’s new film - aptly titled Australia - with co-star Hugh Jackman.
She had been named a Companion Of The Order Of Australia for 2007, but had previously been unavailable to pick up her prize.
She was given the honour in recognition of her contribution to the performing arts, as well as for her charity work. She does a lot with cancer research, as well as women and children.
Nic is living in Sydney while in Oz and was recently seen spending time with hubby Keith Urban while he was on a break from his world music tour. The pair also hung out with Nicole’s family.
Nicole’s dilemma - April 11 2007
Nicole Kidman is being urged to decide between her husband and her children, it seems.
The actress is facing a dilemma over whether to relocate to Australia permanently for the sake of husband Keith Urban, or stay in America and see more of her adopted kids, Isabella, 14, and Connor, 12, according to Grazia.
"Nicole is not keen on Keith’s Australia plans," a friend told the magazine. "She has been through a lot with Keith going into rehab and wants him to keep getting better. But she wants to maintain a close relationship with her kids too."

Throughout the 80s Nicole picked up several parts in features as wide ranging as the soap A Country Pactrice and drama Bangkok Hilton. However her breakthrough role came in 1989’s Dead Calm which she followed up with Days of Thunder and Far and Away. The two films also starred Tom Cruise who she fell in love with during filming. The pair were married in 1990 and the relationship undoubtedly helped give Nicole and extra push in to the limelight.
However 1995’s To Die For made critics sit up and take note of Nicole’s talent. Her tongue in cheek performance proved that far from being a trophy wife she was equal if not superior in acting talent to her husband. The pair appeared on film once more, in the controversial Eyes Wide Shut, before divorcing after ten years together. It was revealed that Nicole was pregnant at the time of their split. She later miscarried. However, the couple do have two adopted children, Connor and Isabella, and remain on good terms with one another.
Following her divorce Nicole appeared to approach her work with a new enthusiasm turning out tremendous performances in The Hours (for which she won the Best Actress Oscar), Moulin Rouge and The Others which brought about rumours of professional jealousy being behind her divorce. Further films, including Dogville, The Human Stain and Cold Mountain have been equally successful while a mistake or two was made in the comedy stakes with Bewitched and The Stepford Wives. Nicole is currently working on Fur, The Visiting and The Lady From Shanghai.
In addition to her movie success she has also managed to hit the UK’s top chart spot too, at Christmas no less. Following her vocals on Moulin Rouge she duetted with Robbie Williams on the, frankly not very good, Somethin’ Stupid. And as if that wasn’t enough to keep her busy she also works tirelessly for charity which, in part, earned her Australian’s highest civilian honour, Companion of The Order of Australia.
Post Tom Nicole has been linked with Lenny Kravitz, Jude Law and Adrien Brody but in 2006 she married Aussie country star Keith Urban with whom she is rumoured to be expecting a baby.
