Ozzy Osbourne
- Profession: Singer
- Place/Date of Birth: Birmingham, 03 December 2020
- Associated with: Jack Osbourne, Kelly Osbourne, Sharon Osbourne
The second season of their MTV show has just started over in the states. Brummie Ozzy says he fell apart and started drinking when Sharon’s cancer was diagnosed last summer. "I don’t think I’ll ever be 100% sober," he says. "I can’t stand AA."
What Queen? - 21/10/02
Ozzy Osbourne has admitted that he has absolutely no idea what the Queen said to him when he met her at the Golden Jubilee celebrations earlier this year. Forget the wild man of rock being under any influence at the time either - it was all down to his nerves. Ozzy can be a bit shaky - as followers of his cult MTV fly on the wall documentary can verify, and it all proved too much when meeting the Queen in the Buckingham Palace line up. Maybe it was down to playing ’Paranoid’ for her.
Ozzy backs Brum - 14/08/02
Ozzy Osbourne has been recruited to head the campaign for Birmingham’s bid to be the European Capital of Culture in 2008.
A spokesperson has said ’He is a huge star at the moment and no one could bring attention and publicity to the bid better than Ozzy, he is a bit rough and ready, but he’s got a heart of gold and that is the sort of image that the city wants to portray.’
Ozzy was, of course, born in Birmingham and is perhaps the world’s most famous Brummie.
Ozzy meets the president - 4/04/02
Our very own Ozzy Osbourne has cast such an impression of George W Bush, he’s been invited to Whitehouse.
The President was so taken by the Black Sabbath’s star documentary recently screened series At Home with the Osbournes, he decided to invite the man himself to dinner.
Ozzy is reported to have said about the invitation: "I thought I’d be up on a wanted poster, not asked to tea."
Ironically, Ozzy even had a life ban from visiting Bush’s home state of Texas after he urinated on the Alamo monument while dressed as a woman.
Apparently the show has re-ignited the aging rockers career in the States.
Ozzy to be reality TV subject - 20/02/02
If crazy rock icon Ozzy Osbourne holds a fascination for you, then you’re in luck. You’ll be well acquainted with what it’s like on the inside of Osbourne’s family life with a new reality TV show for MTV.
He ain’t exactly a family man, but Ozzy will be filmed with his wife and manager Sharon and their teenage children Kelly and Jack in their Beverly Hills home.
Viewers will see Ozzy Osbourne giving his children advice on sex, drink and drugs, arguing with neighbours who keep him awake at night by playing folk music too loud and having to seek advice from his son on how to use a new digital TV.
He has battled drink and drug addictions, been notorious for trashing cars and hotel rooms, and famously bit the head off a live dove in a meeting with record executives.
Break a leg, Ozzy!! 12/11/01
Singer Ozzy Osbourne is to postpone forthcoming gigs having broken his leg without noticing. The former Black Sabbath frontman fell coming out of the shower before a US concert but was unaware that he had fractured his leg.
He continued to perform for a week before seeing a doctor who ordered him to stop touring. "He was unaware that the leg was fractured and continued to perform each night until the pain became unbearable," said a statement on the singer’s official website.
Osbourne,52, is in the middle of a Merry Mayhem tour of the US with Rob Zombie. The singer is now in Los Angeles and consulting with his personal physician.

At the age of 15, he left school and began work as a plumbers mate, and then in a slaughter house but it was when he landed a job testing car horns at the Lucas factory where first developed his musical interest. He began as a singer in a series of local bands until 1969 he watched an old horror movie at a local theatre. The film was called "Black Sabbath" - the new group was born.
Their first album was released in 1970. Ozzy remained with the band for eight years and then reunited the group in July 1985 at the Live Aid Concert. In December 1999 Osbourne and Black Sabbath performed their last ever concerts in Birmingham. Ozzy released 10 records with Black Sabbath. Black Sabbath sold over 100 million records (to date) worldwide. Ozzy left the band and went solo in 1979.
His concerts are guaranteed sell. His first solo record Blizzard Of Ozz in 1981. The record quickly goes Quadruple Platinum. Ozzy and his wife/manager Sharon launch OZZfest in 1996, the first national music festival of its kind dedicated to hard rock music and breaking new artists. He won a Grammy for Best Metal Performance in 2000 as a part of Black Sabbath for "Iron Man." He also received an MTV Movie Awards 2001 nomination for "Best Cameo" for his role in "Little Nicky."
Film director Penelope Spheeris shot a full-length documentary on OZZfest titled "We Sold Our Souls For Rock ’n’ Roll," that debuted at the 2001 Sundance Film Festival. Ozzy appeared in Adam Sandler’s "Little Nicky."
