Paris’ Rwanda trip postponed - Oct 29 2007
It looks like Paris Hilton’s charity trip to Rwanda has been postponed.
The visit to the war-torn African country was supposed to be the hotel heiress’ first major philanthropic effort since her jail sentence in June, but has now been put on hold by the foundation that organised it.
In a statement released to People.com, the Playing For Good Foundation said: "Due to the restructuring of the Playing For Good Foundation, the philanthropic trip to Rwanda that the foundation had previously planned with Paris Hilton has been postponed.
"Paris has been a loyal and gracious supporter of Playing For Good but the foundation has to regrettably reschedule this trip. Playing For Good would like to thank Ms Hilton for her generosity and her continued support of this initiative, and is looking forward to rescheduling the trip with her at a later time."
Paris announced her trip to Rwanda in September, and told E!: "There’s so much need in that area, and I feel like if I go, it will bring more attention to what people can do to help."
Paris heading for jungle? - Oct 18 2007
Paris Hilton has become the latest star tipped to be heading to the jungle next month for I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!
The 26-year-old blonde hotel heiress is apparently in talks with the show’s bosses over a record-breaking £500,000 deal, which would see her battle beasties in the Australian rainforest, reports the Daily Star.
A source said: "She’s terrified of bugs and snakes but she is willing to give this a go to show the world that she isn’t just a party animal."
And the insider apparently added: "Appearing in the jungle is hard work - it’s really tough, especially for someone like Paris, so she wants to be well rewarded."
Other celebs who are rumoured to be taking part when the show returns in November include Right Said Fred’s Richard Fairbrass and Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren.
Ant and Dec will be back to host the reality show, known for its bizarre and sometimes disgusting Bush Tucker trials.
Paris: I want to leave a mark on the world - Sept 16 2007
Paris Hilton has vowed to change her image after being jailed for 23 days for breaking her probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case.
"There are a lot of bad people in LA. Before, my life was about having fun, going to parties -- it was a fantasy," the 26-year-old tells Newsweek magazine in its next issue.
"But when I had time to reflect, I felt empty inside. I want to leave a mark on the world."
Paris says she is now committed to using her celebrity status for the greater good. Next month, she plans to go to Rwanda to bring attention to the African country.
"I’m scared, yeah. I’ve heard it’s really dangerous," she says. "I’ve never been on a trip like this before."
The heiress, accompanied by a children’s charity called Playing For Good, will visit schools and health-care clinics as part of a five-day charity mission. The trip will be filmed.
"I love having everything documented," says Paris, who hopes to turn the footage into a film.
"It shows people what everyday life is like for me, how hard I work. There are a lot of misconceptions about me."

She might be set to inherit an estimated $20m but that hasn’t stopped Paris turning her hand to a variety of ’jobs’ including TV star ? on The Simple Life, in which ex friend Nicole also starred ? movie star (with cameo appearances in Zoolander and The Cat in The Hat followed by a starring role in House of Wax), writer, albeit of her own autobiography, and model. These extra jobs are thought to have netted her around an extra $6m, a tidy sum which no doubt more than makes up for the ridicule Paris faces daily.
More recently Paris has get in on the music industry, founding Heiress Records on which she will produce her own debut record ? first single ’Screwed’ has already been leaked and, naturally, slated. She has also hit the headlines for becoming engaged to fellow heir Paris Latsis with whom she is regularly seen on the LA and New York party scene.
