Paris agrees TV interview with King - June 25 2007
Jailed US heiress Paris Hilton will give her first television interview the day after she is released from jail, it has been announced.
Hilton plans to appear on CNN’s Larry King Live on Wednesday night, a spokeswoman for the show said.
"We do have Paris on Wednesday," said Bridget Leininger. "She’ll do the whole hour."
CNN’s announcement followed competition for the interview between US television networks ABC and NBC that ended on Friday with both saying they were no longer interested.
Both networks were embarrassed by reports that they were willing to pay the Hilton family for materials related to an interview.
However, a spokesman for King said the television interviewer does not pay for guests to appear on his show.
The hotel heiress and reality TV star is serving a 45-day sentence for violating probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case.
Sheriff’s Department officials announced on Friday that they expect to release her some time on Tuesday, but declined to be more specific.
Although her sentence was for 45 days, authorities have said all along that with time off for good behaviour and because of crowded jail conditions Hilton was likely to serve only 23 days.
I’m being strong, says jailed Paris - June 22 2007
Jailed heiress Paris Hilton has said she’s "being strong and trying to make the best out of the situation" in a letter to a fan from her cell.
A spokesman for the 26-year-old confirmed the authenticity of the letter and said she wanted to try to answer fans’ letters personally.
Paris is serving a 45-day sentence for a probation violation at the Century Regional Detention Centre in Lynwood, California.
She’s expected to be released on Monday.
In the letter to an unidentified fan, published by showbiz website E! Online, she wrote: "I read your letter and just wanted to thank you for your kind words of love and support.
"The fact that you took time out of your day to write me truly means the world. Especially at such a difficult and scary time in my life."
Paris went on: "But I am being strong and trying to make the best out of the situation. And the letters I’m receiving really do put a smile on my face as I sit here in my cell, sad and alone."
The letter is signed "Love always, Paris Hilton".
A Paris spokesman said: "That letter was written by Paris. She’s been trying to respond to her fans as they write, personally."
A judge sent the socialite to the downtown correctional treatment centre last week after her controversial brief release home with an electronic ankle tag.
Paris parents positive after jail visit - June 19 2007
Paris Hilton is settling into her cell and is doing better, her parents said after a weekend visit to the jail where she’s being held.
They said the 26-year-old is passing the time at the Century Regional Detention Centre in Lynwood, California, reading letters from fans, relatives and friends and reflecting on her life.
"Basically just reading and just sitting there thinking... what she wants to do with her life and the changes that she wants to make," Kathy Hilton told Fox News Channel’s Greta Van Susteren yesterday.

She might be set to inherit an estimated $20m but that hasn’t stopped Paris turning her hand to a variety of ’jobs’ including TV star ? on The Simple Life, in which ex friend Nicole also starred ? movie star (with cameo appearances in Zoolander and The Cat in The Hat followed by a starring role in House of Wax), writer, albeit of her own autobiography, and model. These extra jobs are thought to have netted her around an extra $6m, a tidy sum which no doubt more than makes up for the ridicule Paris faces daily.
More recently Paris has get in on the music industry, founding Heiress Records on which she will produce her own debut record ? first single ’Screwed’ has already been leaked and, naturally, slated. She has also hit the headlines for becoming engaged to fellow heir Paris Latsis with whom she is regularly seen on the LA and New York party scene.
