Paris Hilton
- Profession: Hotel heiress
- Place/Date of Birth: New York City, 17 February 2021
Hilton, whose home-made sex video entitled 1 Night in Paris propelled her into the public eye when it was leaked on to the internet in 2003, told ABC News journalist Barbara Walters: "God has released me."
The 26-year-old was jailed last week but, after serving only three full days, was told by Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca on Thursday she could serve the remainder of her sentence at home, wearing a tag.
But the decision angered Supreme Court Judge Michael Sauer who called a court hearing on Friday and sent a sobbing and screaming Hilton back to jail.
Instead of returning to her cell at Los Angeles County Jail’s Lynwood prison, Hilton was put in the Twin Towers detention centre where she underwent medical assessments.
Early yesterday, Hilton announced she had told her lawyers not to appeal against her return to prison and vowed to serve her time although it was "by far the hardest thing I have ever done".
Paris was sentenced to a stint in jail for violating the terms of her probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case.
Paris gets prison visitors - June 11 2007
Paris Hilton has been visited in prison by her sister Nicky and ex-boyfriend Stavros Niarchos.
The pair popped in to the Twin Towers detention centre on Sunday - visitors are only allowed on Sundays and Tuesdays and her parents are set to visit tomorrow, according to TMZ.com.
The website also reports that Paris is being allowed to use her phone while she is in prison.
She is reportedly struggling to sleep due to the noise and bright lights and has only eaten cereal and bread since she arrived there on Friday.
The socialite was sent to prison last week but, after serving only three full days, was told by Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca on Thursday that she could serve the remainder of her sentence at home, wearing a tag.
Mr Baca said she had been released due to "severe medical problems" and confirmed that her condition was "mental".
The decision angered Supreme Court Judge Michael Sauer who had specified, as he sentenced the heiress, that she would not be able to serve her 45-day sentence at home.
He called her back to court on Friday and sent a sobbing and screaming Paris back to jail.
Instead of returning to her original cell at Los Angeles County Jail’s Lynwood lockup, she was put in the Twin Towers detention centre where she underwent medical assessments.
"She’s being strong," Nicky Hilton said as she walked out of the jail.
’Screaming’ Paris sent back to jail - June 9 2007
Heiress Paris Hilton has been ordered to return to jail to serve out the remainder of her 45-day sentence for a parole violation.
The 26-year-old was taken from court screaming after the decision was made by Supreme Court Judge Michael Sauer.
Hilton shouted: "It’s not right!" and "Mum" as she was escorted from the Los Angeles courtroom by Sheriff’s deputies.
On Thursday, the celebrity inmate was sent home from the Los Angeles County Jail’s Lynwood lock-up shortly after 2am for an unspecified medical condition, only three full days into her original 45-day sentence.
She was ordered to finish her sentence under house arrest, meaning she could not leave her four-bedroom, three-bathroom home in the Hollywood Hills until next month. But the move was strongly opposed by the sentencing judge and the city’s chief prosecutor.
On Friday Judge Sauer ordered her back to court to determine whether she should go back to jail. County Supervisor Don Knabe said Hilton’s return home on Thursday gave the impression of "celebrity justice being handed out".

She might be set to inherit an estimated $20m but that hasn’t stopped Paris turning her hand to a variety of ’jobs’ including TV star ? on The Simple Life, in which ex friend Nicole also starred ? movie star (with cameo appearances in Zoolander and The Cat in The Hat followed by a starring role in House of Wax), writer, albeit of her own autobiography, and model. These extra jobs are thought to have netted her around an extra $6m, a tidy sum which no doubt more than makes up for the ridicule Paris faces daily.
More recently Paris has get in on the music industry, founding Heiress Records on which she will produce her own debut record ? first single ’Screwed’ has already been leaked and, naturally, slated. She has also hit the headlines for becoming engaged to fellow heir Paris Latsis with whom she is regularly seen on the LA and New York party scene.
