Pete facing four driving offences - Feb 5 2007
Rocker Pete Doherty has been charged with four driving offences.
The Babyshambles frontman answered bail after being arrested on November 19 when officers saw him driving his Jaguar erratically near his home in east London.
Police charged the 27-year-old star with failing to produce driving documents, driving with no insurance, driving a car with no MOT and driving a car while failing to comply with driving licence conditions.
He was bailed to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on February 13.
It is understood police will take no further action against Doherty over allegations he was in possession of crack cocaine when he was arrested.
Police also charged two other occupants of Doherty’s car who were arrested along with him on November 19.
Michelle Breeze, 30, a retail manager from Streatham, south London, was charged with two counts of possession of heroin.
Peter Wolfe, 38, a songwriter from Maidstone, Kent, was charged with possession of cocaine.
Both were also bailed to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on February 13.
Doherty, the on-off boyfriend of supermodel Kate Moss, has waged a very public battle with drug addiction.
He has sought treatment at the famous Priory clinic in west London, as well as in France, Portugal and Thailand.
Judge ’optimistic’ over Pete’s progress - Jan 17 2007
A district judge told rock star Peter Doherty today that she was "optimistic" about his progress in beating his addiction to drugs.
The 27-year-old Babyshambles front man attended a review of a drug treatment order before District Judge Jane McIvor at Thames Magistrates’ Court in east London.
The judge told the singer that she was even more optimistic than she had been at his previous review in October and, as a result, his case need not be reviewed as frequently.
She told Pete, who appeared at his latest court appearance wearing a dark suit and carrying his trademark trilby hat, that his doctor had referred to the "great effort" he was making to beat his addiction.
"But it’s a long process and there is another nine months to go," she said.
"This is more optimistic but we cannot take the pressure off. It takes day-to-day effort."
Defence counsel Bruce Clark agreed that Doherty’s progress was "encouraging".
The judge ordered Pete to return to court for another review on April 18.
As he left the court following the five-minute hearing, the star said it had not been easy trying to give up drugs.
"It’s like she said, really it’s just time.
"For the first time I am actually turning up for appointments in a coherent state. For them, it’s a big step."
Pete refused to comment on reports that he and supermodel girlfriend Kate Moss are due to get married tomorrow.

A long and drawn out battle with drugs, an especially fiery relationship with Croydon’s favourite daughter and any number of bust ups and arrests has made the singer/songwriter one of Britain’s most recognisable faces (all be it a screwed up, sweaty zombie face).
Born on March 12 1979 in Hexham, Northumberland and living at various times in Liverpool, Shepherd’s Bush, Coventry, Dorset, Cyprus and Russia, Pete Doherty first came to the public’s attention as one half of the singing songwriting duo who fronted Britain’s must see band, The Libertines, who kick started the country’s new garage rock scene in 2002/03.
Debauched backstage shenanigans and frantic but brilliant shows saw The Libertines hit the headlines time and time again and their debut album, Up The Bracket, shot up the charts. However, the band’s success was to be short lived and numerous problems, between Pete and the rest of the band (specifically with best friend Carl Barat - the pair met when they became flatmates in Stoke Newington) saw them part ways but not before Pete hit the headlines for drink and drug problems which caused him to steal from his bandmates to feed his habit.
It was around this time that Lisa Moorish gave birth to Doherty’s child, Astile but, rather than settling down Pete carried on taking heroin, selling his ’My Drug Hell’ stories to any and every tabloid to pay for his out of control habit before being put in to several rehab clinics (including a Thai monastery), none of which have changed his ways.
Nonetheless he has managed to forge a career on his own, first working with Wolfman on For Lovers then forming Babyshambles, initially as a way to make money for.you guessed it! Now trying to get clean with the aid of Naltroxene after an arrest for assault, which resulted in some jail time as well as a curfew and constant supervision Pete is reportedly set to marry supermodel Kate Moss.
