Pete Doherty
- Profession: Singer
- Place/Date of Birth: Hexham, England, 12 March 2020
- Assiociated with: Kate Moss
The Babyshambles frontman and two other men were arrested in Hackney, east London, on Saturday, but Doherty and one of the men were later released without charge, a police spokesman said.
He added that Doherty and the other released man had not been held overnight, and that there would be no further action taken against them.
The third man arrested was named as Redouane Aalit, 35, who is unemployed and lives in Hackney.
He has been charged with failing to stop for police, driving without due care and attention and not having a test certificate, insurance or driving licence.
Aalit will appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Monday, the spokesman said.
Doherty’s latest brush with the law came as the BBC said that he is banned from appearing on its children’s television programmes.
A spokeswoman said: "Pete Doherty is well known for his drug-taking and criminal behaviour. As such, he is currently not an appropriate guest for CBBC."
She said that the singer is not deemed suitable for shows made for seven to 10-year-olds, ruling out programmes including the Saturday music show TMi and Blue Peter.
But she added that it was not a blanket ban across the network, and editorial judgements should be made with the target audience in mind.
Pete promises pal support slot? - Jan 9 2007
It seems rocker Pete Doherty has promised QPR footie pal Gareth Ainsworth a slot supporting Babyshambles to give his band a boost.
The 33-year-old midfielder sings in unsigned band Dog Chewed The Handle and after seeing them play, Pete apparently offered them the slot next month.
An insider told the Daily Star: "Pete is a huge QPR fan and as a result has become matey with some of the players who he’ll hang around with after seeing the game.
"He got talking to Gareth about music and he told him about his band, who are quite poppy but with metal influences. They’re named after a Terrorvision lyric and sound similar.
"Pete said he was keen to check them out so went along to one of their shows and was impressed. He told Gareth he wanted them to support Babyshambles when they play in February.
"Pete knows how wonderful it is to be on stage and has told him he’ll do whatever he can to help out with his band."
Pete is worst dressed celeb - Dec 12 2006
Troubled rocker Pete Doherty has been named the worst dressed man in a new survey.
The dishevelled Babyshambles frontman beat less than snappy dressers like Pete Burns and Russell Brand to take the top spot in the Heat magazine Readers’ Poll 2006.
"Nasty, baggy-a**ed, trying-to-be-skinny jeans, grubby T-shirts and weird mismatched shoes? They’re all in the grungy wardrobe of Pete Doherty," said the mag.
Pete Burns came second, Russell was third and Simon Cowell and Big Brother winner Pete Bennett rounded out the top five.
Glamour girl Jodie Marsh, known for her flesh-flashing outfits, was named the worst dressed woman, ahead of fellow pin-up Jordan and BB’s Kinga.
Pop princess Britney Spears slipped into fourth place and BB’s self-styled ’ghetto babe’ Aisleyne was fifth.
Elsewhere in the poll, which asked readers to vote for the highs and lows of the year, Love Island’s Bianca Gascoigne was named most orange celebrity.

A long and drawn out battle with drugs, an especially fiery relationship with Croydon’s favourite daughter and any number of bust ups and arrests has made the singer/songwriter one of Britain’s most recognisable faces (all be it a screwed up, sweaty zombie face).
Born on March 12 1979 in Hexham, Northumberland and living at various times in Liverpool, Shepherd’s Bush, Coventry, Dorset, Cyprus and Russia, Pete Doherty first came to the public’s attention as one half of the singing songwriting duo who fronted Britain’s must see band, The Libertines, who kick started the country’s new garage rock scene in 2002/03.
Debauched backstage shenanigans and frantic but brilliant shows saw The Libertines hit the headlines time and time again and their debut album, Up The Bracket, shot up the charts. However, the band’s success was to be short lived and numerous problems, between Pete and the rest of the band (specifically with best friend Carl Barat - the pair met when they became flatmates in Stoke Newington) saw them part ways but not before Pete hit the headlines for drink and drug problems which caused him to steal from his bandmates to feed his habit.
It was around this time that Lisa Moorish gave birth to Doherty’s child, Astile but, rather than settling down Pete carried on taking heroin, selling his ’My Drug Hell’ stories to any and every tabloid to pay for his out of control habit before being put in to several rehab clinics (including a Thai monastery), none of which have changed his ways.
Nonetheless he has managed to forge a career on his own, first working with Wolfman on For Lovers then forming Babyshambles, initially as a way to make money for.you guessed it! Now trying to get clean with the aid of Naltroxene after an arrest for assault, which resulted in some jail time as well as a curfew and constant supervision Pete is reportedly set to marry supermodel Kate Moss.
