It is believed that once the property has been overhauled it may well house a shop, offices, a design studio and, unusually, an Indian restaurant. We are assuming the whole Indian restaurant ’thing’ comes from her own personal curry desire, or maybe it’s a new holistic health treatment thingy-me-bob, perhaps a new strand of yoga or it could even be a new design fetish, instead of littering her clothes with horses and cockney rhyming slang she might be thinking of decorating her next collection with poppadoms, mango chutney and tandoori chicken.
Stella outs the hunters - 12/11/01
Stella is set to raise a few eyebrows this season as the anti-hunting designer is expected to ban a local hunt from passing through the grounds of her new Worcestershire estate.
The designer, who is so fervent with regard to her beliefs that she will not even sit upon a leather chair, will undoubtedly force the Croome and East Warwickshire Hunt to abandon plans to continue with their past. Stella purchased a three-storey Grade II listed Georgian property for £1.3 million and has plans to turn its 277 acres to organic farming.
McCartney’s new love - 10/11/01
Stella McCartney has put an end to the rumours circulating her sexuality this week as she returned from a romantic holiday with Alasdhair Willis, publisher of Wallpaper.
McCartney and Willis stayed at the secluded Sa Pedrissa hotel on the islands north coast.
Cockney Nelson up the creek without a paddle - 16/10/01
Me old mucker Stella is facing accusations of theft after being accused of pinching ideas from another designer.
The designer in question is one Clay O’Shea who creations have been on sale at Harvey Nichols and The Cross for quite some time. Her creations display the slang ’Trouble and Strife’ and ’Bristols’, both of which appeared at McCartney’s Paris collection last week. O’Shea said, ’The Slang label has been in stores for almost six months. Stella McCartney is clearly a talented designer, so frankly I was surprised to see the slogans on the runway for next season. I will be seeking legal advice.’
Nelson goes aw cockney - 09/10/01
Stella openly displayed where her loyalties lay at Paris Fashion Week yesterday, when her first catwalk show took to the runway. Her collection consisted of work inspired and adorned with cockney rhyming slang. One of her most talked about pieces consisted of a full-length skirt decorated with the slogan ’Trouble and Strife’. Whether this was directed at her soon-to-be mother in-law, Heather Mills, is a rumour hotly debated throughout the fashion world and tabloids a like. All we can is ’Never Chinese Blind Nelson we liked the chuffin’ collection even if ’eather doesn’t.’
Stella to move to Golborne Road - 13/07/01
Stella McCartney is rumoured to be purchasing the former chapel on Goldbourne Road with the intentions of converting it into a catwalk and work space.
The chapel which has been used as a second hand furniture store for the past few years, was reportedly snapped up just days ago, when the current tennant was asked to remove his belongs and vacate the building with five days. A close friend of Stella said: "Originally Stella was looking for property a little off the beaten track, but this particular property just caught her attention, it is a vast open plan building with plenty of space for conversion - I am sure she has great plans for it." Only two months ago Stella planted a bombshell on the design house Chloe when she announced her move to Gucci. Her new Golbourne Road studio space is rumoured to be the new creative space within which she can start to plan and work her magic on the Gucci label.

Unsurprisingly, the student show became front page news around the world and the entire collection was snapped up by London boutique Tokio. She launched her eponymous label the same year. Despite her new-found celebrity, McCartney had already served a long apprenticeship in fashion. At 15, she worked with Christian Lacroix on his first couture collection and later spent several years learning her craft on Savile Row. McCartney was appointed chief designer at the French couture house Chloë in March 1997. Succeeding Karl Lagerfeld in one of the most high profile posts in the industry, McCartney’s appointment was viewed by many as simply an astute publicity stunt on the part of Chloë’s owners, the Vendome group. However, her first collection for the house, shown in Paris in October 1997, quickly dispelled any doubts about her talent. Sensual and romantic, the collection teamed lacy petticoat skirts with fine tailoring and was hailed a triumph. Her delicate camisoles and Nineties updates of the Seventies trousersuit fast became the talk of the catwalk circuit.
The following season, Chloë execs proved that her efforts had not only raised the house’s profile, but had lifted its profits too. Following her mother’s death in April 1998, Stella took up her fight against the maltreatment of animals. A month later, during Fur Fashion Week, she teamed up with PeTA - People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals - to release a video championing animal rights. In April 2000, she renewed her contract with Chloë, amid reports that she had turned down the offer of a position at rival house Gucci, because Gucci would have required her to work with leather. She may have torn up the grey carpets of her new office in Paris to make it of a parquet-floored home away from home; but, to Stella McCartney, there really is no place like it.
In fact, rather than move entirely from her beloved studio-flat in London’s W11, the Chloë designer has merely upgraded to a £695,000 white stucco, four-floor family house with a miniature roof terrace down the road. Her vibe is undeniably west London. Written in 2000
