Jamie to be a dad - Sept 18 2007
Newlywed Jamie Theakston is set to become a father for the first time, he has revealed.
The star’s wife Sophie Siegle, 34, is due to give birth in April.
The couple married on Saturday at a star-studded bash near their Sussex home.
Jamie, 36, met Sophie, manager of the private members’ club Soho House, at the Oscars two years ago and proposed to her while on holiday in Paris in April.
The DJ and TV presenter, who counts Nip/Tuck star Joely Richardson among his exes, revealed the news to listeners of his Heart 106.2 Breakfast show while discussing the guests at his wedding.
He joked: "I can tell you there was a very special guest there but I can’t tell you his name because he hasn’t got one.
"I can’t even tell you if it was a boy or a girl because myself and my new bride won’t find out until April."
He then dedicated a song to the baby, saying: "This is for my new wife and my first child."
Guests at the wedding included DJ Chris Evans and his new bride Natasha Shishmanian, Little Britain’s David Walliams, ex-footballer Ian Wright and presenter Richard Bacon.
Jamie recently said his mother had been trying to persuade him to start a family.
He said at the time: "My mum started nagging me when I was 19, saying, ’Why aren’t you married yet?’
"She wants to be a grandmother and I hope she doesn’t have to wait too long."
Jamie pops the question? - April 11 2007
Jamie Theakston is apparently the latest celeb to be getting ready to walk down the aisle - after proposing to his girlfriend over the Easter weekend.
The Heart FM breakfast presenter, 36, asked Sophie Siegle for her hand in marriage at a Sussex country pub and to his delight, she accepted, reports the Daily Express.
The couple, who have been dating for over a year and live together in West London, unofficially announced their engagement to friends and family in a pub in Ditchling, East Sussex, near where the presenter grew up.
A source said: "They were both clearly delighted. It’s such a romantic time of year. Jamie has booked the week off from his radio show so it looks as if he planned it in advance. I expect they’ll spend the rest of the week celebrating."
Jamie has previously dated a long list of famous women, including Joely Richardson, Amanda Holden, Natalie Appleton and Erin O’Connor.
However, it seems this relationship is different. In January he said: "She certainly makes me laugh like no other woman I’ve ever met.
"She has a great sense of humour. And, yes, I’m looking for someone to marry and have kids with."
The Search begins - November 06
Jamie Theakston is to front Channel 4’s new gameshow, The Search. The presenter heads up 4’s new schedule for winter with the gameshow which will see contestants cracking codes as they search for hidden treasure.

Jamie started his career as a kid’s TV presenter, fronting pop culture show The O-Zone from 1989. He then went on to form a dynamic presenting duo with Zoe Ball on Saturday morning’s Live and Kicking. This would prove to be the job that catapulted Jamie in to the limelight. He went on to appear on Top of the Pops and The Priory, again alongside Zoe.
The TV job led to radio, with Jamie taking the Sunday Lunchtime slot on Radio One. He also broke in to acting with jobs in sitcoms such as Linda Green and Mad About Alice as well as appearing on stage in Art at the Whitehall among others. He remains a regular on televisions and presents a radio show for Heart FM alongside Harriet Scott.
Linked with actress Joely Richardson and singer Natalie Appleton, Jamie hit the headlines in 2001 when it was revealed he had visited a Mayfair prostitute whilst drunk. He apologised to his friends and family for the embarrassment he had caused.
Jamie now fronts Channel 4’s The Search.
