Jamie Theakston
- Profession: Presenter
- Place/Date of Birth: Ditchling, East Sussex, 21 December 2020
The TOTP presenter was spotted with his ex, actress Joely Richardson in Rome this week. Apparently the pair were all over each other in Bar Canoba in the Piazza Del Popolo after a major splurge at Prada and Gucci.
Jamie gets some spice in his life - August 2002
Jamie Theakston is doing the rounds at the moment! Not content with the little bit of ’Spice’ he has in his life, he has been spotted getting his fill in Cafe Lazeez in Soho. And funny man and writer Ben Elton has also been seen dining in this trendy hangout....definitely the place to be!
Jamie comes of age - 21/02/02
Our local ’poptastic’ presenter Jamie Theakston is well on his way to maturity as we see him wave good bye to Top of the Pops and head for the West End to star in the hit play Art.
Theakston’s boy-next-door image was severely discredited last month when he admitted to tabloids (?) that a prostitute, following a close encounter over the Christmas period, was blackmailing him.
Well it obviously hasn’t ruined his career, in fact these kind of sensational stories appear to do a world of good for kiddie presenters who are looking to move into the more grown up world of media - just look at Richard Bacon.
Jamie will be taking the lead role of Serge, the man who buys all the art in Art.
Joely and Jamie split - 30/08/01
Notting Hill celebrity couple Jamie Theakston and Joely Richardson have split, her spokeswoman confirmed today. The presenter and actress daughter of Vanessa Redgrave met last year through a mutual friend. Their closeness sparked rumours that they would soon marry, especially after their relationship was tested when Joely went to NYC earlier this year to make her Broadway debut in Madame Melville with Macauley Culkin.
It is believed the pressure of work is the reason for the split. A spokeswoman for Joely confirmed today that the couple had decided to go their separate ways: "I can confirm that Joely and Jamie have split up. It happened a few weeks ago but they remain good friends," she said.
Up until today the couple have been avoiding questions about their relationship. Joely has since headed to France with friends for a holiday where she is said to be considering a number of scripts before deciding on what to do next. In July she was granted a divorce from husband Tim Bevan, who is the father of her nine-year-old daughter, Daisy.
Jamie has just finished working on the latest series of Channel 4’s The Priory. He is currently working on a new travel show for the BBC. Holiday - You Call The Shots, will see the presenter travelling the world exploring top destinations and visiting bars, hotels and sights recommended by viewers.
Joely, who starred in the British hit Maybe Baby, has also just completed filming The Affair of the Necklace, in which she plays Marie Antoinette. The film is due out in the UK at Christmas.

Jamie started his career as a kid’s TV presenter, fronting pop culture show The O-Zone from 1989. He then went on to form a dynamic presenting duo with Zoe Ball on Saturday morning’s Live and Kicking. This would prove to be the job that catapulted Jamie in to the limelight. He went on to appear on Top of the Pops and The Priory, again alongside Zoe.
The TV job led to radio, with Jamie taking the Sunday Lunchtime slot on Radio One. He also broke in to acting with jobs in sitcoms such as Linda Green and Mad About Alice as well as appearing on stage in Art at the Whitehall among others. He remains a regular on televisions and presents a radio show for Heart FM alongside Harriet Scott.
Linked with actress Joely Richardson and singer Natalie Appleton, Jamie hit the headlines in 2001 when it was revealed he had visited a Mayfair prostitute whilst drunk. He apologised to his friends and family for the embarrassment he had caused.
Jamie now fronts Channel 4’s The Search.
