Eddie ’fathered Spice Girl baby’ - Aug 2 2007
An attorney for Spice Girl Mel B has said that a DNA test has shown that Eddie Murphy is the father of her four-month-old baby.

Murphy has shown "shocking and appalling" conduct since the test, Melanie’s Brown’s attorney Gloria Allred said in a statement.

The test "established paternity but paternity has not been legally acknowledged," she said.

Brown, who was known as Scary Spice, dated Murphy last year .

The 32-year-old singer gave birth to Angel Iris Murphy Brown on April 3. She listed Murphy as the father on the birth certificate.

Murphy took the DNA test in June, Allred said.

Murphy, 46, has five children from his marriage to Nicole Mitchell Murphy, who filed for divorce in 2005.

Brown also has an eight-year-old daughter.

Mel B has revealed that she and Eddie Murphy were in conflict over his lifestyle before he publicly dumped her.

The star once again insisted that their three-month old baby, Angel Iris, was planned and that the couple had wanted to tie the knot.

She learned their relationship was over while she was pregnant last December, when the 46-year-old star told a Dutch TV show: "I don’t know whose child that is until it comes out and has a blood test."

But the 32-year-old has now said that the actor must have been "hurt" by something she said for him to have publicly humiliated her.

A DNA test has since confirmed that the baby is Eddie’s.

She told Essence.com: "This was a completely planned pregnancy. This wasn’t some random ’Oops I fell over and I’m pregnant’."

Asked why she thought her ex denied the baby was his, she said: "I’m a very independent woman so if you’re trying to control me, that’s not going to happen."

She said the pair planned to move together to Malibu but "somehow things got confused along the way because there were certain things that went on in his house with his lifestyle that I wasn’t prepared to be a part of".

Scary Spice said they had a "trippy discussion" and "both refused to budge", but she thought the pair would iron out their differences on her return from London.

The singer added that "what I said must have hurt" the Beverly Hills Cop star, "because the guy doesn’t speak about his relationships".

Mel B apparently wants to marry her new boyfriend.

Scary Spice has been dating film producer Stephen Belafonte since her split with Hollywood star Eddie Murphy.

And now she has told the Sun: "He’s the love of my life and I’m going to marry him."

She added: "Stephen’s been a godsend. Eddie hasn’t been in touch once since I had the baby, it’s unbelievable. But Stephen has been a tower of strength."

The singer’s spokesperson announced that paternity tests confirmed Eddie is three-month-old Angel Iris’s dad. So far the actor has not commented.

Mel, 32, has been married once before to Jimmy Gulzar, the father of her daughter, Phoenix Chi, eight. The pair got engaged after a whirlwind 10-week romance.

The Spice Girls - Mel, Victoria Beckham, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton and Mel C, have recently announced their reunion tour later this year, with concerts scheduled around the world.
