My brings Xmas to Farepak victims - Dec 8 2006
Myleene Klass will bring Christmas cheer to families who lost out in the Farepak scandal after her tiny bikini raised a whopping £7,000 on eBay.
The bidder, known only as herbiesure, won the I’m A Celebrity star’s famous little number when the auction closed at 10pm last night, The Sun reports.
The money raised, after The Sun put the item up for auction, will go towards buying 19,000 food hampers which were lost when Christmas savings firm Farepak collapsed.
Singer Myleene said: "When I heard how Farepak had ruined Christmas for thousands of people I thought it was absolutely despicable and evil.
"So if selling my little bikini can bring so much joy then that is amazing. I’d like to thank Sun readers for bidding."
Consumer Minister Ian McCartney told the paper: "The sale of Myleene’s bikini has helped tremendously."
An investigation is currently underway after 150,000 people lost an average of £400 each when Farepak and parent company European Home Retail went under.
The first of the ’goodwill gesture’ food parcels are due to be delivered over the next week.
