It was first rumoured Sharleen’s relationship was in trouble earlier this month, when it was reported Ashley was dating journalist Tamara Rothstein. However, although it was claimed he was cheating on Sharleen, it has now been confirmed the couple had already split. Sharleen recently confessed she didn’t want to marry Ashley. She admitted at the time: "I don’t know. Marriage is not a big issue in my life. It’s neither here nor there for me. "It’s not for feminist reasons. I don’t want to be ’the future woman’ or anything. I just don’t care enough about all that."

The singer has a long association with the Children’s Hospice Association of Scotland (CHAS) and often visit children at the charity’s first hospice, Rachel House, in Kinross.

The centre, which opened in 1996, provides care for terminally-ill children and gives their parents a break from the normal routine.

Texas singer Sharleen Spiteri is said to be ’ecstatic’ over the decision to build a children’s hospice on the banks of Loch Lomond.

Sharleen has been a long-term supporter of Rachel House’s plan to build a second hospice for terminally ill kids in Balloch on the banks of Loch Lomond.

She donated £100,000 from her band’s Millennium concert in Edinburgh on Hogmanay 1999, and helped campaign to overturn the decision by Loch Lomond National Park to block planning permission for the hospice for terminally ill kids.

She also regularly visits Rachel House and helps out by cooking meals for the kids.

Misty Kyd Heath was born at 11.28pm on Monday night at a private London hospital weighing 8lb 7oz, unlike many showbiz mother’s Sharleen had a natural birth with her long-term boyfriend Ashley Heath by her side. A spokesman said "Both mother and baby are said to be doing well."

The shower was thrown by fashion designer Stella, for her pregnant sister Mary and pregnant pals Kate Moss and Sharleen. Gwenyth Paltrow and meg Mathews also turned up. The girls all turned up laden with gifts, and though they are used to getting trollied together we assume this time they stuck to soft drinks.
