Trinny and Susannah’s druid battle - July 5 2007
They’re used to dealing with some tricky customers, but when Trinny and Susannah tried to give a famous landmark a makeover, they found themselves having a run-in with a group of druids.

The pair gave the Long Man of Wilmington in Sussex a sex change for their ITV show Trinny And Susannah Undress The Nation, by arranging 100 white-clad ladies on the ground to give the figure womanly curves.

But while programme makers had got permission to film the stunt, some 25 local pagans protested, saying it was disrespectful.

Damh Smith, aka The Bard, from the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids, said the "sacred" site has been used for druidic ceremonies for years.

"We’d been campaigning locally for years to keep people off the Long Man, because over the years it has been vandalised quite a few times," the 42-year-old added.

Trinny and Susanna approached the druids and explained the makeover was designed to "empower women".

But Damh said: "It was a cheap publicity stunt that didn’t take into consideration the future safety of the monument. Everybody in Sussex loves that figure and it was a bit of an insult to the local community."

An ITV spokeswoman said: "ITV gained the relevant permission from the Sussex Archaeological Society for the purposes of filming around the public area of the Long Man of Wilmington.

"Care was taken to protect this historical site and the figure itself was not permanently changed or affected."

Trinny: I’m not too skinny - May 15 2007

Trinny Woodall has reportedly hit back at critics who say she is too skinny and has an eating problem.

The What Not To Wear presenter, who has designed a new range for Littlewoods alongside partner Susannah Constantine, told Grazia magazine: "There is no eating problem. I eat like a pig and weigh nine stone, which is what I’ve weighed for the past 10 years.

"I don’t diet. I don’t believe in diets and was so p***** off at the implication I was doing something because it is so against everything Susannah and I stand for.

"The fact is I’m completely flat-chested, with a very bony top half and was photographed in the sweltering heat in a low-necked dress, which I happen to love, and it showed off the features which I usually cover up.

Susannah added: "Entirely a case of what not to wear, you see. Trinny just wasn’t following her own rules."

Trinny too skinny? - Mar 14 2007

TV fashionista Trinny Woodall has been snapped returning from Liz Hurley’s glamorous Indian wedding looking skinnier than ever.

The 42-year-old star was pictured at the airport in Jodhpur in a clinging floral dress that revealed visible ribs.

Friends have said Trinny’s weight loss follows fears for her husband Johnny Elichaoff, who was recently treated for an addiction to prescription painkillers after a motorcycle accident, according to the Daily Mail.

A friend told the paper: "Since Johnny came out of rehab, Trinny just feels like she has been holding the family together.

"She has also been filming a new series of Trinny & Susannah Undress, plus a Comic Relief The Apprentice show and she has been out to Liz Hurley’s Indian wedding.

"It has been non-stop and the worry over her work schedule and her home life has just made her lose her appetite."

But the friend denied the star’s appearance was due to any health problems.

Biography

As the slightly scarier half of fashion-nazis Trinny & Susannah, Trinny Woodall has got us all matching our belt to our shoes and adding scarves to outfits to hide saggy bellies.

Born as the slightly less hooray-yah sounding Sarah-Jane Woodall on January 3 1965, Trinny was educated at Kensington’s Queens Gate School.  She began her career in the rather less style concious business of the City’s financial centre before bagging herself a job as a writer for the Daily Telegraph.

She set up Ready2shop.com with good friend Susannah Constantine (whom she had previously made over) in the late 90s.  The website handed out fashion advice to surfers until 2001 when the pair ran out of money and closed the site down.

However, the pair were picked up by the BBC to present a new makeover show, What Not To Wear.  They went on to present What Your Clothes Say About You and What You Wear Can Change Your Life for the Beeb before being hijacked for ITV’s Trinny & Susannah Undressing.

Trinny’s personal life has been a subject of much media attention, notably due to a drug addiction in her earlier years (she is now a trustee of The Chemical Dependency Centre).  She is now married to Johnnie Elichaoff and after several attempts has given birth to their daughter Lyla, who was born in October 2003.
