Vic crowned comedy legend - Oct 4 2007
Vic Reeves has been crowned a comedy legend at the Loaded Laftas, during a ceremony honouring Britain's funniest stars.
"It's the most fantastic thing ever," Vic said of his Legend Award.
"I've won three Baftas and numerous other awards, but there comes a time in a man's life when he needs to look back and this is the best compliment."
Vic found fame with comedy partner Bob Mortimer in shows including The Smell Of Reeves And Mortimer and Shooting Stars.
He also appeared in I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! with wife Nancy Sorrell.
The Laftas were held at the Pigalle Club in Piccadilly, central London.
Justin Lee Collins was the big winner, scooping the title of Funnniest Man and also Funniest Double Act with his Friday Night Project co-star Alan Carr.
David and Victoria Beckham had been nominated in the latter category.
Green Wing's Michelle Gomez was named Funniest Woman.
I'm A Celebrity star David Gest won Funniest Reality TV Person, Paul Kaye (aka Dennis Pennis) took home the award for Funniest TV Personality, The Mighty Boosh scooped Funniest TV Programme and Scott Mills beat Radio 1 rival Chris Moyles to the prize for Funniest Radio Show.
Vic named Loaded Legend - Oct 2 2007
Vic Reeves will be named the Loaded Legend at the Loaded Laftas 2007.
The comedian and presenter will join the esteemed list of previous winners which include Ricky Tomlinson, Bruce Forsyth and Leslie Phillips.
He said: "It’s the most fantastic thing ever! I’ve won three Baftas and numerous other awards but there comes a time in a man’s life when he needs to look back and this is the best!"
Loaded editor Martin Daubney added: "Vic Reeves is a legend in every sense of the word. He’s one of the funniest fellas this country has over seen and is totally deserving of this award."
The Loaded Laftas, being held with Nivea For Men, are the only comedy awards to be voted for entirely by the British public.
Nominees include Russell Brand, Jimmy Carr, Ricky Gervais, Jonathan Ross and Chris Moyles.
The Loaded Laftas will be held on October 4.
Vic’s bad boys - Jan 05
Vic Reeves films new series on history’s bad boys. The comedian best known for The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer and Shooting Stars is hanging up his comedy coat in favour of something a little darker this year as he films a new series for the Discovery Channel. Rogue’s Gallery sees Vic, aka Jim Moir investigate some of the pasts darkest and dodgiest characters, among them Deacon Brodie, the notorious Scottish thief formally played by Billy Connelly. In addition Vic will be exploring the lives of nine other British undesirables, from Highwaymen to murderers, giving him the perfect opportunity to explore his more serious side as well as the Discovery Channel’s extensive dressing up box.
Vic’s BBC snub - Jan 05
Vic Reeves has threatened to leave the BBC. According to reports Vic and his sidekick Bob Mortimer are sick of having their wacky ideas poo-pooed by safe old Auntie Beeb. Vic has told press that their decision to overlook the duos suggestion for a Friday night show is the final straw and that they are now looking at new projects, among them Monkey Trousers, for ITV and a history project for the Discovery Channel.
Vic is out - Dec 1, 2020
Vic Reeves is out and was planning to escape anyway. Vic told Ant and Dec that he was missing Nancy too much and was going to somehow escape from camp if he wasn’t evicted. However his escape plans were a bit sketchy to say the least - pole vaulting and flying out on his cape were mentioned.
