Happy Birthday to Roo - Oct 24 2006
England footy wonderkid Wayne Rooney is 21 today - and it seems his fiancee Coleen McLoughlin is spoiling him rotten.
Last week, the 20-year-old trendsetter was spotted laden down with bags after visiting Manchester Selfridges, telling nearby photographers: "These are for Wayne’s birthday. Please don’t run the pictures beforehand or it will ruin the surprise."
Coleen told friends she was buying him a £30,000 diamond-encrusted watch from Jacobs & Co, a £15,000 golf simulator and some Louis Vuitton luggage, says The Sun.
There were also rumours that the Asda model was planning to buy him a guitar, signed by a top musician.
"Coleen has come up with loads of presents over the last six months, including a gold simulator and a watch," said an insider.
"There was mention of a signed guitar, but nobody knows for sure what her final choices were. She didn’t want to let the cat out of the bag before the birthday."
The duo are planning a quiet celebration this evening, for just a handful of family and friends.
Wayne in England fan dust-up - Oct 13 2006
Wayne Rooney was involved in a dust-up with an England fan following his team’s 2-0 defeat by Croatia, his spokesman confirmed today.
Striker Wayne was among a group of players heading to the team bus from the stadium in Zagreb when he was singled out for a barrage of personal abuse from an England supporter. The Manchester United star was alleged to have responded to the jeers.
A spokesman for Rooney said: "Any gesture Wayne may have made was directed to one, and only one, particular England fan, whose behaviour towards him appalled the other England players who saw it and horrified the rest of the England fans.
"Wayne has total respect for England fans. He accepts and understands their disappointment at last night’s result."
It is not the first time Wayne has found trouble in recent times. Last month he gave Blackburn’s Michael Gray a black eye following a dispute in a Manchester restaurant, although again it appeared Rooney was not the instigator.
Like the national team, the 20-year-old is going through a difficult spell as he endures the first dip in form of his career. He has now gone over two years since his last competitive goal for England.
P-Diddy’ll Do It - Sept 2006
Forget long training sessions or laying off the burgers. P-Diddy reckons he can make Wayne Rooney a better footballer. Rooney bid £20,000 for a weekend with Diddy at the Beckham’s World Cup party and the rapper has been waxing lyrical about the plans he’s got for their get together ever since. "I promise you when he comes back he’ll be a better footballer," says Diddy who has also said he will get New York’s best stores closed so Colleen can enjoy some shopping time alone. "After he comes to New York," the Diddy man rambles on "we’ll probably be cousins. It’ll be a non-stop party with lots of sexy ladies." Right-o.
