As the year draws to a close, it’s almost inevitable that we should look back over the past 12 months and round up everything that’s gone on in the world of showbiz.

But for many celebrities the year has quite literally been life changing - with new additions to the family, whirlwind romances ending in marriage and sadly some great names who passed away.

This time last year, Ava Klass was just a twinkle in her presenter mum Myleene’s eye, Amy Winehouse was still footloose and fancy free and opera singer Luciano Pavarotti was still alive.

But you’ve got to hand it to Kerry Katona - the ex-Atomic Kitten star gave birth to her daughter Heidi Elizabeth just six days after eloping to Gretna Green to marry her taxi driver husband Mark Croft.

Spice Girl Mel B had a baby in April with Eddie Murphy and then just two months later married her beefy boyfriend Stephen Belafonte in Las Vegas.

Liz Hurley excelled in drumming up the biggest fanfare to her March wedding to Indian businessman hubby Arun Nayar - and they even managed to drag it out for almost a week with separate ceremonies in India and the UK.

Meanwhile, June 16 caused a few problems for Manchester United players - as Gary Neville and Michael Carrick both tied the knot on the same day, as did former United player Eric Cantona, Liverpool player Steven Gerrard and Rod Stewart married Penny Lancaster.
