‘Not so much future soul, more a future classic’
DJ on ‘Dirty Basement’
Emerging from the ‘Dirty Basement’ they left behind on the last single, Elektrons resurface this time with a track that has all the elements to be the tune of this summer.
Already an underground smash after its limited release last summer, Get Up takes all of the crowd rocking dynamics Justin and Luke Unabomber have learnt from behind the decks of Manchester’s infamous Electric Chair and distill it all into four minutes of deliciously funky hip hop swagger that will sound as good coming out of a boombox on a summer’s day as it will inciting the jump-up posse to riot come carnival.
Known as one fifth of LA hip hop collective Jurassic 5, rapper Soup effortlessly spits his rhymes over Justin and Luke’s loose limbed party anthem while original vocalist Pete Simpson returns to bless Get Up a second time round.
Joy, in contrast, is a deep house track that sucks us into a hypnotic whirlwind crescendoing into a dance euphoria as Pete Simpson’s soulful vocal soaring high over the lush piano chords.
Elektrons debut album – ‘Red Light Don’t Stop’ - out 6th August on WOS, is set to be the LP everyone reaches for when trying to ignite a red hot summer party.
