Maria McKee – A Good Heart
Release date: 23 April 2020
Format: Single
Genre: Pop
Our Rating: 0
Well, I remember both Maria McKee and ‘A Good Heart’ from their first time around and never have I wished either were back on the modern music scene, but here they are, a bit like unwelcome guests at a birthday party. If you’re into power ballads from one of the original 80’s ladies check it out, otherwise I recommend you steer well clear. To offer Maria a little credit, this is a pre-release in anticipation of her new album ‘Late December’ and the track that lends the album it’s name is a much fresher take on her vocals, thank goodness.

Press Release
Monday 23rd April 2007 sees the release of Maria McKee’s sixth solo album, ‘Late December’, which she co-produced with her husband Jim Akin. After galloping off to a glamorously pop-y start with ‘Late December’, the warmly vulnerable vocal of ‘A Good Heat’ and the Bowie-esque Motown stomp of the Akin co-penned ‘No Other Way to Love You’, the album twists midway into new terrain. The now familiar, operatic ‘collage-work’ style which helped to redefine her as an artist on the momentous ‘Life is Sweet’ album and the ambitious 2003 release ‘High Dive’ has once again reared its ragged head in all its irreverent glory.
