Martin Grech - March of the Lonely
Release date: Out now
Format: Album
Genre: Folk, Country, Alt
Our Rating: 3/5
Low-key, male singer-songwriter and his guitar provide a beautiful soundscape of acoustic music littered with gentle, melancholic piano samples. Opening track ‘Treasures’ is as short and sweet as a diamond, whilst title track ‘March of the Lonely’ closes the album with a sparse, melancholic meditation.
Recorded on the beautiful and remote Osea Island just off the Essex coast, you can understand immediately how his writing has been influenced by the haunting and distant surroundings of isolation.

Press Release
You could be forgiven for thinking that critically acclaimed Maltese/English singer sonwriter Martin Grech was older than he was, when you consider how long he's been making soul-baring, spine-tingling music for. But when you write your first song at 14, and sign your first record deal at 16, releasing your third album whilst still only 24 seems normal.
And he's managed to run the whole gauntlet of music experience in that time. He's been signed to two different major labels, burst onto the scene with a compelling sountrack to a high profile TV ad campaign (long before it made Jose Gonzalez or Sigor Ros noteworthy), did his rock band side project, and now - 8 years later - has gone right back to grassroots level, in more ways than one.
After parting company with his last label, he removed himself from the industry nerve-centre of London and holed himself on a small island with only his long-time produc`er for company, recording an album, the quality of which could well turn out to be his opus, to be released on his own label, martin Grech Songs. When releasing music yourself doesn't prevent you from assaulting the charts anymore, he couldn't have picked a more apt time to go it alone.
