Stonebridge – SOS
Release date: Out now
Format: Single
Genre: Dance
Our Rating: 1/5
Repetitive electronic loops to a normal, four, four beat were my first thoughts of this dance song. Although the singer has a strong singing voice, I found the fusion of the electronic trancy beat and her vocals piercing to the ear. The Henrik B remix was the only saving grace with a slightly more enjoyable sound that would suit a late warm up set to help get the party started.

Information: You’re on the dancefloor, where you’ve been all night. You need a break, but then a bassline drops that travels from your brain straight to your feet. Sexy vocals spin around your head until it’s nodding in agreement. Uplifting melodies and pumping beats pull you in all directions as you feel your energy flooding back. It can only mean one thing – Stonebridge is back! On 9th July, the Swedish house maestro teams up with the mighty Apollo Records to release ‘SOS’ one of this year’s biggest club hits for an assault on the national charts.
Stonebridge is no stranger to success. Since the mid ‘80’s’ he has taken house music and turned it into an art form, introducing the genre to millions of clubbers across the globe. From his first hit remix of the seminal house classic ‘Show Me Love’ by Robin S, to his most recent UK top 10 smashes ‘Put Em High’ and ‘Take Me Away’, Stonebridge has consistently delivered sexy, pumping house music, designed to make you move. His reputation has led to Stonebridge being courted by some of the world’s biggest names in music. He has sprinkled the Stonebridge magic over tracks from artists such as Missy Elliot, Robbie Williams, Lenny Kravitz and Will Smith to name but a few.
‘SOS’ is the latest in a long line of dance floor favourites from Stonebridge. Taking a phat electro bassline, melding it with funky house flavours and a stunning vocal from Erire, Stonebridge has created a contemporary tune that captures the atmosphere of clubbing in 2007. Expect to be ‘calling out an SOS’ in Ibiza and all other holiday destinations this summer!
The remixers on ‘SOS’ are a talented bunch. Fresh from his own recent success, Seamus Haji steps up to deliver another highly polished, electro-tinged house remix. Introducing a new riff into the track, Seamus provides another indisputable floorfiller! Ortega & Gold take a darker route with a dirty speaker-busting electro bassline and stripped back progressive feel. Not to be outdone, Henrik B turns in a trademark chunky, funky electro mix all set to steal the limelight.
