Lavender Diamond - Open Your Heart
Release date: Out Now
Format: Single
Genre: Folk
Our Rating: 2
Lavender Diamond requires an acquired taste. If you’re into the folk revival, the chances are you’ll probably like them, if this thought turns you cold, don’t bother. Open Your Heart is the single release from their album and boasts collaborations with The Decemberists, another new-wave folk group. Their cover of ‘Chiquitita’ is a great addition for any ABBA fans out there, but seems to be taken a little too seriously and lacks the heart and soul of the original. This is cute, catchy folk-pop, rather than breaking any moulds it follows a nicely arranged package.
Press Release:
Lavender Diamond release their new single ‘Open Your Heart’ in the UK on Rought Trade Records – backed with a stunning cover version of the Lavender Diamond song ‘Oh No’ performed by Colin Meloy of The Decemberists and Lavender Diamond’s own beautiful cover version of Abba’s ‘Chiquitita’.
Debut album ‘Imagine Our Love’ follows on May 7th – an album comprised of pristine pocket symphonies that combine the best of the early ‘70’s Brit-folk boom with gorgeous arrangements and an overwhelming sense of sheer heartbroken wonder.
