Really like this restaurant, but not enough to sit outside in the traffic like some people. Pizzas here are completely different than any of the high street chains, incredibly thin and crunchy which means that the flavours or the toppings really come through.

Service is friendly whenever I've been in, which is good because the downstairs room is often busy. Try the mixed plate of salamis for a starter. One final point, Calzone is a great place to people watch.

"This cutesy Italian restaurant is tucked behind Notting Hill Gate in that bit where you always discover a pub or restaurant you never knew existed before, even though you've walked down there a hundred times. After going to see My Big Fat Greek Wedding and feeling unable to stomach both the film and Greek food at Costas on Hillgate Street, my friend and I decided to keep it simple at this little Italian restaurant next door. I love any Italian restaurant that has Chianti bottles hanging in their baskets from the ceiling. The food was delicious; my spaghetti vongole was good, if not a little bland, put the pasta was cooked perfectly and the service nice. We drank a lovely bottle of Italian red, lingering over our glasses and not feeling hurried. The dessert trolley passed the table on more than a few occasions, but I managed to resist this mouth-watering looking tiramisu. Then I saw one of the waiters - I think he was the owner - doing this funny trick I bet he only does once a night. He took a cappuccino over to a table, and upon nearing tripped up, with the appearance of spilling the coffee over the unsuspecting punter. But wait! It was a fake cappuccino! He had the punter - and me - going. I thought this was quite a good trick really, so at the end of the meal when he came over and asked us if we wanted anything else, I asked for a cappuccino, winking furiously. He didn't get it. Never mind. The rest of the experience was fine!" Prawn Sag Aloo 10/10/02

The salad with the dough balls is incredibly filling. Its like that challenge with the 3 cream crackers, its a real struggle to finish. I think this is a good thing though. Makes a change from most pizza joints where you don't exactly feel full up when you leave.

Trattoo is our 'little local Italian restaurant' and has been for years. The food is traditional Italian, unfussy but always tasty. It's the kind of place where cooking comes first and presentation second which isn't a bad thing in my book.

It's a quirky restaurant, filled with talking points, interesting art, plants and a sweet trolley complete with lights. The conservatory style interior is a lovely place to sit and unlike some other restaurants we could name, diners aren't crammed in like sardines. The menu has something for everyone, from pastas to seafood dishes - all have been equally well prepared. The specials are usually worth a look too, featuring whatever's in season.

For my husband and I perhaps the best aspect of Trattoo is the service. We've taken friends here for celebrations and come alone when we couldn't be bothered to cook and we've been made to feel just as welcome. Salvatore the manager and his team excel at what they do … So I suppose you could say we recommend Trattoo.
