Queens Gate - The Gore Hotel
Started
by Antony Worral -Thomson in the early 1990s, 190 Queen's
Gate is a bustling Continental -Style eatery. Service starts
with hearty breakfasts as well as lunch and dinner and an
all day brunch on Saturday and Sunday. 190 is renowned for
a particularly strong line in pre-theatre food, timed to coincide
with events at the neighbouring Royal Albert Hall.
Head Chef Malcolm Starmer ran Richard Corrigan's kitchen at
Lindsay House for nearly three years, subsequently working
with Gordon Ramsey and Phillip Howard. His passion is for
the freshest ingredients obtainable, with due emphasis on
wild fish, organic meat, strictly seasonal vegetables, funghi
and garden herbs All this topped off with the irresistible
puddings for which he is famous, makes 190 a destination not
to be missed.
Malcolm also presides over The Gore Hotel and One Ninety Queens
Gate's unique private dining and function rooms, the Gore
Hotel being well known as the most romantic hotel in London.
Spacious, air conditioned and lavishly decorated, these rooms
are perfect for stylish entertaining.
Bar 190
Bar 190 is particularly popular with celebrities from film,
television, fashion, publishing and advertising. With its
ornate plaster ceiling and mahogany panelled walls it is more
like a private club than a hotel bar. This world famous candlelit
bar attracts an eclectic mix of fascinating people. Local
residents and hotel guests mingle in the warm, intimate atmosphere
of a private house party.
For pre- theatre, post- theatre, or a fabulous night out,
Bar 190 is the quintessential destination. "The hotel's bar
really buzzes. It is a popular meeting place for Kensington
locals-rather like Cheers with a cultured English accent"
(Australian Gourmet Traveller).
