The Tenth
Restaurant and Bar - reviews Modern & European
"The bar is very nice and there are one or too very nice
waitresses." H 02/10
Looking for a restaurant that serves beautiful food, offers
an extensive wine list, impeccable service, tables positioned
at a comfortable distance apart, from which you can watch the
sunset across London and all at an affordable price? Surely
such a place does not exist. It does, I ate there last week.
The Tenth Restaurant, located on the 10th floor of the 5* Royal
Garden Hotel, Kensington offers all this and more. Under the
management of Phillip Osenton, this is a very smoothly run bar
and restaurant while Head Chef Norman Farquharson pulls out
all the stops in the kitchen. Starters range in price from £6.50
for Soup of the Day - on the day I visited this was a light
velvety asparagus soup garnished with a quails eggs; possibly
the best soup I have ever tasted.
Through to £12.75 for Smoked Scottish Salmon served with a Caper
and Shallot Dressing. For main course there is a wide choice
ranging in price from £15 to £24 and include delights such as
Roast Fillet of Scotch Beef with Wild Mushroom Fricassee of
Butter Bean and Perigourdine Truffle, Whole Grilled Dover Sole
and Gratinated Lobster served with a Tarragon Cream Sauce.
The Tenth is open Monday to Friday 12.00-2.30pm and Monday to
Saturday 5.30-11.00pm. Fixed price lunch menu available at £17.25
for two course and £23.00 for three courses.
For music-lovers, The Tenth also hosts monthly Saturday dinner-dances
- Manhattan Nights - with the John Wilson Orchestra evoking
all the glamour and elegance of a 1950s New York nightclub.
Meeting friends for a drink? Try the bar at the Tenth, same
breath taking views, gentle music and champagne half price on
Wednesdays.
