Fantastic place.. great food.. reasonable pricing.. simply cannot understand the "whiney negatives" from a couple of previous and "dated" posts .. too bad for these miserable (and probably over-demanding) people. So sad that these types of people abound these days. This place is a definite recommendation from me ... indeed !

Simply ask for the recipe. They just might surprise you and give it to you. Good luck!

I agree! Would love to find the recipe for the Orangery cake. Any ideas?

Last April, my partner and I had the pleasure of having lunch at the Orangery Restaurant. Fourteen months on, and that experience has remained a highlight of our trip to London. What a perfect setting: Simply yet elegantly presented, with an excellent menu, beautiful surrounds, in a truly unique location. The food and service were superb and the opportunity for a long, leisurely luncheon was allowed thanks to unhurried, highly attentive service. A treat that is well-worth making one's 'local' during trips to London. We're back next April, '09, in eager anticipation of another delightful experience.

This is a must everytime we visit London. We discovered it quite by accident and recommended to many friends who visited London. No one has been disappointed. Look forward to future visits.

We had the Afternoon Tea with champagne about 24.75 each. The champayne was not brought to the table in a bottle and as there were four of us we would have expected this. The quality of the food was very poor and small portions. We asked for another pot of tea and it came back as if just hot water had been poured over the orginal tea bags. The waitress did not return to the table and ask if everything was alright and the fact that service charge was entered on the bill at 12% one would have expected good service. We have been to the Orangery many times before and were very disappointed with this visit. Other top hotels are better value and service for afternoon tea.

I went there yesterday and it was awful, we had tea (which was OK) and cheese scones which were really dry and didn't taste of cheese just salt. We also had a salad with peaches, the peaches were so hard and sour they were inedible. I wouldn't ever go back there or recommend it to anyone.

I have been to London 5 times in the past year and each time I go to The Orangery for tea and a stroll through the park. I just love the staff they are so courteous and remember me each time. The service is excellent and the tea service is excellent value. I can hardly wait to return in Sept and November of this year.

This is my favorite place to go while I'm in London. I love getting their English Breakfast tea with a slice of delicious chocolate cake. It's a wonderful, relaxing place to be and I highly recommend stopping by while you're in Kensington Gardens!

Ridiculously great. I generally only ordered drinks and dessert, but members of my parties who had the sandwiches loved them, and also loved the butternut squash soup. The drinks are simple and yet really great. The desserts are elegant, rich, yet not over the top. The shortbread was good, but definitely try the organery cake, which is excellent! If you are visiting London, you must visit the Orangery.
